Take the Namdaecheon (Riv.) bicycle path near Gangneung Terminal all the way to Gonghangdaegyo (Br.). Pass Gonghangdaegyo (Br.) and then Namhangjingyo (Br.) to reach Namhangjin Port. Cross Solbaram Bridge visible to the left form Namhangjin Beach. Solbaram Bridge is a bridge between the sea and river, and it is famous for being very windy It is also famous for its fantastic nightscape.

To the right is Gangneung Port and if you proceed a bit further, you will reach Anmok Beach that is famous for its coffee street. The Anmok Coffee Street is one of the most famous destinations in Gangneung, the city of coffee. Gnagneung holds the Gangneung Coffee Festival every October.

If you go along the coastal drive, you will enter a pine tree forest path. Gangneung has an especially high number of pine trees. That is probably why the city tree is the pine tree, and the city name is also Solhang (pine scent) Gangneung. The evergreen pine trees and ocean create breathtaking scenery.

Once the pine tree forest path ends and you pass Gangmun Beach and pass Gangmungyo (Br.), you will arrive at Gyeongpo Beach. When you pass Gangmungyo (Br.) and proceed about 600m, take the path to the left and you will see Gyeongpo Lake.

Once you go about 1km around Gyeongpo Lake and take the path on the left, pass the bridge and enter the place with the forest. This is the home of Heo Gyun and Heo Nanseolheon. Heo Nanseolheon was a female writer in the mid-Joseon Dynasty, and she gained fame after her works of poetry were published in China and Japan after her death. Various festivals are held here such as the Nanseolheon Cultural Festival, Women’s Culture Festival and Food Festival. Near Gyeongpo Lake is written the story of Hong Gil-dong, which was written by Heo Gyun.

Come out of Gyeongpo Lake and following the lake, make a big circle and go out to Gyeongpo Beach on your bike.

Bicycle trail

Follow the coastal road on Gyeongpo Beach and head towards Sacheon Port, and once you pass Sungeut Beach, there will be a bicycle trail that also serves as a sidewalk. Ride as fast as you want here.
