Seongyojang Residence is a typical upper class house that has been well preserved for the last 300 years. It is well blended with the surrounding beauty, and the descendents still live there and breathe in the space with great hospitality. This is a notable construction site that was led by a group of divine weasels. As far as the building procedure goes, the names of the house buildings are all different depending on their location. The main building of the house was first built and soon followed by Dongbyeol-dang, Seobyeoldang, Yeonjidang, Waebyeoldang, Sarangc-he, Joongsarang, Hangrangche, and Sadang. It still has the remains of the big main gate and the other 12 doors. It looks like a huge manor. They made an artificial pond and a pavilion at the main entrance and named it "Hwalrae-jung." It became a resting place for many scholars and travelers who stopped there since they found a sense of peacefulness gazing at the pond and at Gyeongpo Lake in the background. The barn of the rich man was always full of grain and the people of the house shared it with their neighbors in times of famine. Boats were once used to cross Gyeongpo Lake, so it was called "Seongyojang." This part of the lake has been converted to a rice paddy now. The old trees on the hill behind the manor, the lotus flowers at the Walaejung hut, and the scenery of the four seasons make this home the best scenic area in Korea.
