Mt. Dosolsan Battle Memorial Festival is a national grand festival held every year with hoping reunification of Korea. During Korean War, Korean Marines won Mt. Dosolsan battle after 17 days of fierce combat from June 4th ~ 20th 1951. In commemoration of the victory and to light up the fighting spirit of insuperable marines by sacrificing their flower-like youth for freedom and peace, the festival is held. Mt. Dosolsan battle played an important role to recover Yanggu area and secure current cease-fire line by winning a victory after fierce offensive and defensive battle and countless sacrifices of Korean Marines who replaced US Marines to recapture Mt. Dosolsan . Furthermore it is very meaningful battle since it was recorded as one of five great operations in Marine history to secure important bridgehead in Mid-east battle line with unprecedented bloody offensive and defensive mountain battle.

At that time, the President Rhee Seung Man bestowed a writing, “Mujeok Haebyeong (無敵海兵; Insuperable Marines)” on Korean Marines who won a victory in Mt. Dosolsan battle. “Song of Mt. Dosolsan” for the battle is still alive as a permanent marching song of all Marines. Yangu, Gangwon-do! There are vestiges of fierce battles everywhere. Like Mt. Dosolsan battle, Bloody ridge battle, Mt.
